Will the lake be kept, or will it go?
The lake remains an important part of the community.
The area is being developed into a wetlands and open space area, with indigenous plants providing a healthy habitat to attract indigenous wildlife such as the NZ scaup (duck).
The Lake also plays an important stormwater function and water will also circulate through to the adjacent Waiatarua wetlands.
