What is Residential 8 zoning and what does it mean?
- Following the development of this growth strategy, in 2002 Auckland City Council introduced a Residential 8 zoning as a means of allowing more intensive development than has traditionally occurred, in key selected areas of the city.
- Although all development requires resource consent, Residential 8 zoning allows for greater density, height limits, building coverage and height in relation to boundary design parameters. It also provides greater visual and acoustic privacy.
